The CHIP trial - "CHloroquine for Influenza Prevention" - is testing the
possibility that chloroquine, a simple and well-known medicine, might
prevent flu. If this trial shows that chloroquine works, it would be an ideal medicine to take for flu prevention for several reasons: it is taken by mouth, can be taken only once weekly, and has been in widespread clinical use for over 50 years and is known to be safe
The trial is simple and easy to do, and we will reimburse you for your time and transportation costs.
As a first step, please read the CHIP information sheet (click the tab above).
If you are interested in participating, then you will need to come for a screening appointment at IMU / CTU at NUHS. To arrange this, please click the "I am interested" button below. The system will take you through 5 simple steps that will take no more than 5 to 10 minutes to complete:
1. Enter your contact information
2. Enter some background information about yourself
3. Answer some basic questions about your health
4. Test yourself on some questions about the CHIP trial to check that you understand what is involved
5. Sign up for a screening visit.
All information entered on the system will remain strictly confidential. If you go through these steps and then later decide not to participate that is fine. Your information will be stored until the end of the trial and will then be destroyed.
